Amazing debut

Hard to believe this album is over 30 years old now. AIC is so underrated in general. Besides Man in the Box; Bleed the Freak, Sea of Sorrow, We Die Young, all amazing. By ryanmetallica

One Of The 90's Best

Arguably one of the most innovative of the genre. AIC was initially placed alongisde acts as diverse as Iron Maiden and Anthrax, where they did not fit in. Here they start to find there sound. There are remnants of glam on tracks such as "Real Thing" and "It AIn't Like That" next to the grungier, heavier metallic sounds of "Man In The Box" and "Sea of Sorrow". The record is cascading and no track feels like filler, though it does seem to play with different genres. Overall a great piece of discography. By KakeGirl

This record is the one Alice In Chains made first, released first, and played live first. It only makes sense to start where they did, THE BEGINNING OF DISCOGRAPHY. Then do yourself the pleasure of buying SAP, then DIRT, Jar of Flies, self titled etc. By Miracle rose Williams

Still powerful 25 years later

I was fortunate enough to see Alice In Chains live when they first started out. Never heard anyone sing like Layne and still haven't 25 years later. This album changed my total appreciation for music and until then I never really knew music. Thanks AIC. RIP Layne!!🤘 By Lexiek24

Great album start to finish. Confusion is a very underrated song, Staley kills it. By Schlonggggggg

Excellent Album

To be frank, every song on Dirt sounds the same.

Facelift was written in 88-89, long before the band decided to make Staley's heroin addiction their only focus.

Facelift contains variety in song writing. " I Know Something" is almost funk-like.

"It Ain't Like That" seems to contain themes of hope.

"Sunshine" is a powerful ode to Cantrell's late mother.

This album gives off a sense of hope. I think "SAP" also had uplifting themes. But after that album it was only death. By icouch

Alice in Chains baby!

Amazing album, definitely a bunch of great songs on here, this is amazing grunge music. If you liked this album then check out all of Alice in Chains songs up to the Music Bank songs if you wanna hear some Layne Staley and Alice in Chains.
